3/16/2017

Pope John XXIII Regional High School’s Joe Lopez, Chairman of the Health & Physical Education Department, will present Coaching the High School Athlete: Why We are More than Just Coaches (A behind the scenes look as a private sector coach becomes a school’s first strength coach) at the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) 2017 National Conference, July 11-14, at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.

Lopez’s topics include identifying the challenges of working with the high school population versus the private sector, designing programs around equipment and facilities, establishing the need and applying for a strength and conditioning position at the high school level, and understanding the needs of the high school athlete in comparison to college and professional athletes.

Lopez, the head strength and conditioning coach at Pope John XXIII, is also the New Jersey State Director of the NSCA.  The trip to Las Vegas will be his first opportunity to speak at the national level.
