Jesus Christ Superstar – A Stellar Performance!

The Pope John Players--55 cast members, 27 crew members, 12 security staff, 6 musicians, and 5 creative artists and dinner theatre coordinators--delivered exceptional performances of Jesus Christ Superstar. Opening to an enthusiastic crowd of senior citizens on Wednesday, February 22, the Players received standing ovations after each of the five shows.

The Pope John community quickly learned just how many superstars walk our halls every day – actors, singers, dancers, artists, musicians, directors, tech crew – the list goes on.  Kudos to Mrs. Jacquelyn Burt, faculty moderator, who directed all 105 students in their various roles both on and off stage. Special rounds of applause are due faculty members Mr. Frank Setlock, who captured perfectly the part of the Roman centurion, and Mr. Evan Wacek, director of the pit band, who conducted the non-stop score.

Jesus Christ Superstar touched and inspired the audience and Players alike, and we're eagerly awaiting next year’s production!

Call Margaret Butler a renaissance woman. The Pope John XXIII Regional High School senior can talk politics, play a character on stage, score incredibly high on tests, perform science experiments, speak foreign languages, paint a picture, give her time to others, and the list goes on. So, there is no wonder why Butler received early acceptance to Harvard University on Tuesday night.

The Pope John Players' latest play “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” the award-winning play, film and book which they are presenting tonight at 7, Friday at 8 p.m., and Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m., at Pope John XXIII Regional High School, has been a drama of great difficulty. However, they have relished the opportunity to put on their best performance to date.

By trying to be the best he can be, Pope John senior linebacker Jake Brown has put himself in the best position possible to succeed on the field and in life, as he has committed to Harvard University to play football and continue his academic endeavors for the Crimson.
