Athletics Overview - Pope John XXIII Regional High School

Not only does participation in high school athletics allow students to engage in regular physical activity, the benefits of athletics reach far beyond the field. Consistently higher grades, an increased likelihood of attending college, and improved behavior and concentration are just a few of the many benefits of organized and competitive high school sports. Here at Pope John, we take pride in our excellent athletic program, and work with students to become student athletes, while ensuring that they maintain a rigorous academic schedule and academic excellence. Pope John student athletes are good time managers and have more self-respect, self-confidence and leadership skills.

Seasonal sports

Pope John offers a wide variety of fall, winter, and spring sports. In total, we offer 29 sports for both girls and boys. In addition, our sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students are eligible to play certain sports offered for their age group, which is excellent preparation for the coming years. Student athletes have been found to be better at time management and goal setting and are more likely to graduate from college and become higher earners. Participation in high school athletics makes your child less likely to engage in risky behaviors such as smoking, and the health benefits of regular physical activity cannot be understated.

Pope John prides itself on our excellent and expansive athletic program. With so many sports to choose from, we believe that any student interested in athletics can find a match at Pope John. As an overview, these are the many athletic teams and opportunities Pope John provides for your children:
